BTS’s ‘Proof’ makes Oricon history with huge first week sales

No foreign artist has ever done this on the Oricon chart.

According to a recent update from Oricon, BTS’s compilation album Proof easily ranked No.1 on Album chart after selling more than 514,000 copies in the first week of release. With this, Proof is holding the record as the best-selling first-week album of 2022.

In addition, Proof marks BTS’ 10th No.1 – making the group the most No.1 country artist in Oricon history. BTS and TXT are also the Kpop groups with the most consecutive No.1 albums on Oricon with six consecutive No.1s.

With over 514,000 copies sold, Proof is currently the album with the biggest debut week for a foreign artist in Oricon history, behind only Mariah Carey’s The One , BTS’s The Best , BoA’s Valenti and Map of the Soul : 7 ~ The Journey is also by BTS.
